Every Animal Deserves Safety, Stability, and a Place to Call Home
The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary is a family-run, non-riding farm animal sanctuary located in Nokesville, Virginia. Here, senior and medically complex animals live in familiar pastures with the steady routines and thoughtful attention that sanctuary requires.
We are intentionally small and hands-on. Every animal here is known individually, and decisions are made with the long view in mind – stability, comfort, and a place where they can be known and supported for the long term.
Our Rescue Work
Through our nonprofit, Grumpy Goat Rescue Co., we provide sanctuary for animals who need a softer landing – seniors, the medically complex, and those whose paths have become uncertain. Once they arrive, they remain here as part of the herd.

Our Vision
We believe sanctuary should be steady and responsible. Our goal is a place where animals are not passed along or forgotten, but supported through consistent routines and long-term stability.
Our Approach
We focus on animals who require thoughtful management — seniors, special-needs residents, and those who benefit from a calm environment and experienced oversight
Sanctuary work is quiet work, built on routine, observation, and consistency.
Why We Offer Sanctuary Care
The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary is not an adoption-focused rescue. Our mission is long-term sanctuary.
We meet each animal where they are in life whether that means quiet retirement, ongoing medical support, or simply a steady routine in a familiar place. That approach allows us to adjust over time as needs change, without the stress of frequent transitions.
Sanctuary means they are not waiting for the next placement.
They are home.
Over time, that consistency allows animals to settle, relax, and simply live something every animal deserves.
Life at the sanctuary moves at a quieter pace.
The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary operates through Grumpy Goat Rescue Co., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to transparency, thoughtful management, and responsible sanctuary operations.
