Welcome to The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary
A nonprofit sanctuary in Nokesville, Virginia providing lifelong care for senior and medically complex horses and other farm animals who need a more stable, long-term place to live.
Spoiler: The goat’s not grumpy. But the husband might be.
Our Mission
We believe compassion is contagious.
The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary provides lifelong sanctuary for senior and medically complex horses and other farm animals giving them a consistent, long-term home and the thoughtful support they deserve.
Grumpy in name. Joyful in mission.
Who We Serve
We focus on animals who need a little extra support-seniors, the medically complex, and those with uncertain futures. Here they find stability, routine, and a place to simply be.
A Small Nonprofit with Big Responsibility
The Grumpy Goat Farm & Sanctuary operates through the nonprofit Grumpy Goat Rescue Co., a registered 501(c)(3). Each day we balance hands-on animal care with thoughtful planning so the sanctuary remains stable for years to come.
Why Sanctuary Matters
This is not a rescue focused on adoption. It is a lifelong home. Our residents stay here permanently, supported by structured feeding programs, veterinary oversight, and consistent daily routines.
You Are Part of the Story
Community support helps provide feed, veterinary services, and the infrastructure needed to keep animals safe and comfortable. Every act of support helps keep the sanctuary running.
Help Support Sanctuary Care
Caring for a sanctuary herd requires consistent feed, veterinary visits, and safe infrastructure.
Your support helps keep this work going, day after day.
About Us
We’re a small Virginia animal rescue in Nokesville, where farm animals find second chances, soft landings, and a whole lot of love.
Fun Fact: The name? It’s a nod to the (mostly good-natured) husband behind the scenes—who didn’t
exactly sign up for weekends filled with fence-fixing and goat-chasing, but might just be warming up to
farm life.
Our residents include a lovable mix of horses, pigs, goats, chickens, donkeys, dogs, and the occasional hay
thief. Most are permanent sanctuary members, enjoying a no-stress, non-riding life—just space to be
themselves.

Whether you're here to sponsor a resident, send a little support, or just smile at some animal antics—we're so glad you stopped by.
You Can Be Part of the Herd
We’re able to do this work thanks to kind-hearted folks who believe in giving second chances.
Whether it’s a bag of feed or a monthly gift, your support keeps tails wagging and hooves happy.
